About the Department
The Electronics and communication Engineering is harbinger of the institution. The department of Electronics and communication Engineering was started in the year of 2006. The department offers B.E and M.E programmes with a vision to produce globally competent professionals. Keeping in line with fast changing technology, the department has a well designed, constantly reviewed syllabus of Anna University to incorporate all advancements in existing and emerging technologies. The department has well equipped laboratories to meet the requirements of university standards.
The Electronics and communication Engineering has organized a number of seminars, workshops. About more than 12 seminars, 2 symposium, 4workshops were conducted on different topics like Mobile Train Radio Communication, Face Recognition Using Neural Network, Bluetooth Network Security, Embedded System in Automobiles, PCB Designing, etc., Various industrial visits are organized by the department to various establishments enable the students to have a feel of real life situations in industry and the usage of technologies in industry at present.
To nurture the students towards practical knowledge of the subjects, research and development besides inducing them to publish papers in an international journals and mini projects. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculties.
To develop competencies of students with good value system to face challenges of the continuously changing electronics world.

Electronic Circuits Lab
The lab facilitates effective implementation of various electronics circuits, thereby providing a resourceful platform for their further study and understanding. This laboratory has an excellent collection of all basic components in available ranges for conducting practical classes. It also consists of Dual Trace Oscilloscope, Function Generators, Power Supplies, Bread boards etc. All basic Electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied. Using these devices the small electronic circuits can be constructed and can be checked.
Digital Electronics Lab
It is fun to play with 0 and 1 which is the heart beat of all modern digital equipments. Number of Digital ICs is available to get the knowledge about logical circuits and their components for the students. Digital Trainer Kits are used to built combinational and sequential circuits. In this lab various digital circuits like gates, digital converters, flip-flops and registers etc are being studied.
Analog and Digital Communication Lab
Communication is one of the basic of all Mobile, Radio and TV. In this lab, the students learn about how the various modulation and demodulation techniques actually happen with the help of CRO and various kits. The lab is using advanced kits with which the learning and implementation is very easy.
Microprocessors and Microcontroller Lab
Automation rules the world but we rules over the automation by the usage of Microprocessor and Microcontroller. The Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory aims in inculcating the knowledge of programming skills by executing various programs like arithmetic operations, code conversions, searching and sorting algorithms studied in the Microprocessor and Microcontroller course. The lab is also used by the students to interface the microprocessor and microcontroller to various peripheral devices to generate waveforms, perform A/D and D/A conversions, Displays, Digital clock.
Digital Signal Processing Lab
Processing and generating digital and analog signals are done in this lab. The detailed study of the digital electronics & signal processing concept based experiments can be performed. This lab has more than 31 numbers of Dual Core CPU with 2 GB personnel computer along with required software like MATLAB and other softwares.
Designing a Microprocessor and Controller are very much complicated and thus they are designed through VLSI techniques. A well established computer lab with higher configuration systems. Practiced program in VLSI using Xilinx software and FPGA kit.
Microwave and Optical Communication Lab
Modern mobile, satellite communication completely depends on Microwave frequency. The Communication Lab has been equipped with Function generator, and many other experimental kits. Microwave Lab comprises of bench setup with Klystron, Gunn diode, Isolators, Circulators, directional couplers and all other accessories. Optical lab has different trainer kits, Power sources and Power Meters.
Embedded System Lab I & II:
The Embedded systems lab has been equipped with ARM which is backbone of current mobile and hand held device. It also has PIC and some simulation software with high configuration computers.
Applied Electronics Lab I & II
The Embedded systems lab has been equipped latest FPGA’s with supporting software. It also has PIC and some simulation software with high configuration computers. DSP kits give signal processing and generation.
