About ECE Department

The department of ECE was established in 2002 with an intake of 60 students in the UG programme. In the year 2006, an additional intake of 60 was sanctioned. The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering aims at producing qualified and dynamic engineers in the fast changing areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. This undergraduate course has gained paramount importance and has proved to be indispensable to industrial establishments.

The Electronic and Communication Engineering program is interdisciplinary. It requires a blend of knowledge from the areas of Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, and Telecommunication Engineering. Students in Electronics Engineering are given an opportunity to learn and extend their abilities to analyze and solve complex problems and to design new uses of technology to serve today’s society.This engineering program

provides an integrated educational experience directed toward the development of the ability to apply pertinent knowledge to the identification and solution of practical problems in electrical, electronic and telecommunications engineering.

The department has developed state-of-the art laboratories in such areas as Electronics Circuits, Analog and Digital Communications, Optical and Microwaves, Microprocessors, Digital Electronics, Electronics System Design, VLSI and DSP.

The Department has 18 members of faculty; the faculty has well distributed teaching expertise in various specializations like Signal Processing, Communications, Digital Systems, VLSI and Embedded Systems. The staff members and Students are deputed to participate in workshops, conferences, symposia and refresher courses to keep in pace with recent developments in the field of Electronics & Communications Engineering. The Department has been organizing Technical Symposia at the National-level.

Electronic Circuits Lab

This laboratory has an excellent collection of all basic components in available ranges for conducting practical classes. It also consists of Dual Trace Oscilloscope, Function Generators, Power Supplies, Bread boards etc.

All basic Electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied. Using these devices the small electronic circuits can be constructed and can be checked.

Digital Electronics Lab

Number of Digital ICs is available to get the knowledge about logical circuits and their components for the students. Digital Trainer Kits are used to built combinational and sequential circuits. In this lab various digital circuits like gates, digital converters, flip-flops and registers etc are being studied.

Analog and Digital Communication Lab

In this lab, the students learn about how the various modulation and demodulation techniques actually happen with the help of CRO and various kits. The lab is using advanced kits with which the learning and implementation is very easy.

Microprocessors and Microcontroller Lab

The Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory aims in inculcating the knowledge of programming skills by executing various programs like arithmetic operations, code conversions, searching and sorting algorithms studied in the Microprocessor and Microcontroller course. The lab is also used by the students to interface the microprocessor and microcontroller to various peripheral devices to generate waveforms, perform A/D and D/A conversions, Displays, Digital clock.

Digital Signal Processing Lab

The detailed study of the digital electronics & signal processing concept based experiments can be performed. This lab has more than 30 numbers of Pentium IV 512 MB personnel computer along with required software like MATLAB 7.1 version.


A well established computer lab with higher configuration systems. Practiced program in VLSI using Xilinx software and FPGA kit.

Microwave and Optical Communication Lab

The Communication Lab has been equipped with Function generator, and many other experimental kits. Microwave Lab comprises of bench setup with Klystron, Gunn diode, Isolators, Circulators, directional couplers and all other accessories. Optical lab has different trainer kits, Power sources and Power Meters.
