 The Department
of Tamil was established in 1998. The department offers many job oriented and currently
relevant subjects such as Journalism and Mass Communication and Dramatics at the
Undergraduate level and Computer in Tamil Research and Linguistics. The department also
offers Tamil language under Foundation Courses, Basic Tamil for students who have not
studied Tamil. True to its tradition, the Department has been doing good work in the
training of good researchers and scholars. The contribution of the Department to the
qualitative change of Tamil scholarship and research is recognized widely. The
department offers M.Phil and Ph.D programmes.
